Have you ever heard someone tell you to think positively because good things will come to you?
Truthfully, Manifestation sounds like a lot of hogwash – that is until you understand (1) the Laws of the Universe and (2) how the brain works.
Let’s start with one of the laws of the universe, The Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction claims that whatever you send out into the world (thoughts and vibes), is what you will get back in return. If you focus on the negative, aka the doom and gloom, you will remain under that cloud because that is what your brain and the universe believes to be true. Just like if you focus on positive thoughts and what you WANT to manifest into your life, you will find a way to achieve these goals because your brain and the universe are vibrating at the same frequency. Often times, it’s our limiting beliefs (created in childhood and strengthened over time) that keep us from the life we envision.
I’m sure after reading that last paragraph, you’re like “yeah right.” That has always been my reaction to… “so you’re telling me that I can basically think good things into my life?”
Yes, that’s exactly it. Now…this does not mean bad things will not happen. That is a part of life and a part of the free will that captivates being human. But what it does mean is that, by thinking positively, you are more likely to achieve higher because you are aiming directly at your target (your end goals and thus YOUR PURPOSE).
The practices and beliefs in this law have been practiced for years, dating all the way back to the ancient Buddha. He believed “what you have become is what you thought.”
The other aspect to manifestation is simply visualization (or in simpler terms, how the brain works). Let me give you an example: If I tell you to think of a lemon…a nice juicy lemon…and then tell you to imagine bringing that lemon up to your mouth and tasting the skin with all its citrusy flavors…chances are the most descriptive I get, the more your mouth will salivate. The visualization, not the actual lemon, is all that is needed to create this result. So, if we are thinking nothing but negative thoughts every day ALL day, then of course you will not be able to attract the positive because you don’t believe you deserve.
So how do you change this?
First – is mindset. You have to catch yourself each time you say something negative and REFRAME that thought. Staying in your limiting beliefs will do nothing for you. If you find it hard to reframe those thoughts, hire a coach or a therapist that can help you do so.
Next – If you don’t like your life, CHANGE IT. Stop waiting for the perfect time or perfect situation because it isn’t coming.
The Law of Attraction and Manifestation really is that simple. Become aware. Be proactive. Stop making excuses.
Here are twelve affirmations that I found that might be helpful if you want to begin working on your mindset. Choose one or a few of these affirmations to say to yourself daily in the mirror – and as you say it, imagine your inner child filling up with the confidence and love you deserve to have.
1. I am confident in my abilities.
2. I am deserving of love and respect.
3. I am growing and learning every day.
4. I am strong and resilient.
5. I am capable of achieving my goals.
6. I am grateful for my life.
7. I am surrounded by positive energy.
8. I am proud of who I am.
9. I am in control of my happiness.
10. I am at peace with my past.
11. I am worthy of success.
12. I am living my best.
(Please keep in mind – there is deeper work that needs to be done with this, but affirmations is a good place to start when rewiring limiting beliefs.)
